LESSONS FROM THE ANT

#3- Tenacity despite feebleness
I've not seen any insect display doggedness and determination like the ant. Despising obstacles, she holds fast to tenacity regardless of her feeble appearance.

I once came accross some ants making a sand path in a place around my house i didn't like. I scattered it, and in days they were back at it again. I kept on destroying it, but they never stopped making it each time, until i had to try an alternative approach. They had a will that could not be easily flinched.

In her hunt for food, she can travel up to 200 metres. She won't stop until she gets to a food stop. When eventually she finds food, she leaves a pheromone trail on her way back to the colony, for other ants to locate the food. While the food is being moved to the colony, and the trail is blocked or covered. The ants don't just run away leaving the food. Though they may be disorganised for a while, a new trail is made and movement of food resumes.

What then is the lesson from the ant?

The word is not far fetched—tenacity. A saying goes thus: when the going gets tough,  the tough gets going.

What is it you've set out to do? As long as it is a worthy venture, there will always be oppositions and tough times. Like the ant, put on your tenacious face, ready to face the opposition, but not to give in. For every friction, pick up a lesson and uncover a better way to get it done.

You may have to travel some "200 metres" to getting what you want. It's actually worth it. A short success story will not be as interesting as a "200 metres" success story.

Finally, you have everything embedded in you to be your best. When there's a stop, look inward and harvest the tenacity; the skill; the character to find an alternative route and keep moving till you get to the food stop.

LESSONS FROM THE ANT

The Ants have always been a pointer to the way-to-living for human. Their lifestyle has always amazed man. Though little, feeble creatures as they seem and appear, they are loaded with lessons. Little wonder the proverbs gives the counsel: "go to the ants, thou sluggard; consider her ways and be wise". The ant teaches wisdom, which is learned by observation—lesson from the ants. #1- Activity with foresight

Building Capacity

The teen and youth ages are transitory periods. The adulthood is dependent on them and the childhood look forward to them. Major changes occur that shapes one during this period. Decisions and choices during this period are key too. The parable of the talents illustrates a scenario of three servants- their ages not told. They were given talents which can be likened to an investment. The spotlight is on the fact that they were given according to their "ability" and not "piety." A mentor once said they were given to capacity. If piety were a consideration, the servant who ended up with one talent should have had the most: he was pious; he feared his master the most  and wouldn't want to offend him in any way; but he hadn't capacity worth investing more than one talent. The above is an evidence that proves the fact that nobody is willing to invest much in anybody without capacity, enough to contain. The amount of content is dependent on the capacity of ...
