The day a man get a glimpse of his purpose is the day he seizes to exist and starts living. The purpose of a man is divine and it cannot be known by presumption or trials and errors.
Every human brought forth by conception has a divine assignment before leaving earth
, which is purpose; though many die without living at all.
The purpose of a man can be intoxicating. For instance, a man has a purpose to diffuse corruption: this man can be so drunk about it at the glimpse of that divine assignment, that he sets out to doing without any proper grooming, physically, mentally and in the presence of the giver of purpose. This is an example of a purpose-drunken life, because soon enough the purpose becomes vague and it doesn't seem like one anymore. Other worse hits may also happen and put a final stop to this once-found determination.
Think about king David. He was going to be a king in Israel to fulfil divine purpose. He knew it and was even anointed for it long before it came to fulfillment. He didn't walk up to king Saul telling him he was to assume his position as king. He waited, and during this waiting period, he was built physically, mentally and otherwise. He went through hardship and pursuit imposed by king Saul himself, and this made him stronger: it built his trust and dependence in God, his respect for the anointed, his organisational and administrative skills. He was living purposeful.
Eventually, the time came and he was ready to start fulfilment of his purpose. The fulfilment of purpose is different from living purposeful. All the while David ran from Saul, he knew he had a purpose and he lived it up; he lived knowing a time would come when he would be king; he didn't just sit doing nothing, even though the hardship, but he didn't attempt to take the throne before it was time; he wouldn't allow anything defile his head for the crown he was to wear, and he always sought God before taking a major step. He lived purposeful.
When he became king was the time for fulfillment, and he began to fulfill his divine assignment.
To everything, there is a season and a time to every purpose. Understand this salient truth and allow your steps to be ordered by the giver of purpose. Live purposeful: don't be in a haste to jump into a step that means fulfilment when the time is not yet.
